Task 1 - Social Media Analytics

This week, our instructor, Mr Asrizal, provided us with training on utilizing Google Analytics. As part of our assignment, my groupmates (Ng Wai Fern, Kenisha, Chung Jia Xuan, and Lum Qian Tong) and I collaborated to analyze the analytics data and create a comprehensive report.

Below is our submission for week 4

Task 2 - Content Ideation

During this week, our main objective was to secure a client for our project. To accomplish this, our group decided to divide and conquer, each member taking on the task of finding potential clients. It proved to be quite challenging as we sent numerous inquiries via Gmail, but unfortunately, most of them were rejected. Despite the setbacks, we persevered and eventually identified two companies that showed potential interest in collaborating with us.

The first company we approached was Dao. While Dao seemed to be a company open to accepting new experiences, we encountered some difficulties during our negotiations. Their attitude towards us was somewhat unfavourable, and they did not display a willingness to cooperate with us during our meetings and communications. After careful consideration, we made the decision to reluctantly abandon the idea of working with Dao.

On the other hand, our second discovery, Dododot Beauty Patch, proved to be a much more promising prospect. They exhibited a genuine enthusiasm for collaborating with our group and expressed eagerness to work together. This positive reception encouraged us to move forward with Dododot Beauty Patch.

As a result, we have prepared a detailed proposal for Dododot Beauty Patch. The proposal includes an in-depth analysis of Dododot's business and outlines our strategies to assist them in achieving their objectives. We aim to establish a consensus and a mutually beneficial working relationship with Dododot Beauty Patch.

Following our meeting, we initiated the brainstorming process to generate content ideas for our project. With a group of five members, each person was tasked with proposing 5-8 ideas. After careful consideration and screening, we have arrived at our final decisions.

Task 3 - Content Planning

Following the content ideation phase, we proceeded with researching and organizing various dates and times for posting. This led us to create a detailed calendar for our planned posts. After completing the assignment, I assigned specific roles to each group member, including copywriting and artwork design. To ensure a fair distribution of responsibilities and skill development, we decided to rotate these positions on a weekly basis, allowing everyone to gain experience in different areas.

Feedback

Week 1
Lecturer Feedback
In the post for the "Pimple Party Hype," include the necessary information to generate excitement. Include a link or call to action, providing details on what participants can expect or what they will receive. Specify the steps to join, such as tagging three friends or following specific instructions. Clearly state the duration of the campaign and mention when the winner will be announced. While crafting the caption, ensure it is not too lengthy and avoid sounding like a traditional TV or radio advertisement. Instead, strive for a more personal and engaging tone that resonates with the target audience. By incorporating these elements, the post will effectively generate interest and encourage participation in the "Pimple Party" campaign.
Client Feedback
Based on the feedback, it is important to follow the discussed brand proposition while making captions more personal and less promotional. Adopting a soft sell approach is recommended, along with starting content with a hook to capture attention. Highlighting the morning routine of matching outfits with patches can add a personal touch. Increasing the pace of videos can make them more engaging, and developing a campaign mechanism can attract more participants. Verifying and correcting the brand colour codes (dull purple: cd61a0, orange: f2723b) is necessary. To ensure readability, use white text with drop shadows on dark backgrounds and consider legible colours for subtext. Additionally, it is essential to convey that the pimple patches are designed to help heal and protect the skin without making exaggerated claims of permanent results or unrealistic promises like skincare products do. Overall, maintaining the brand proposition, a personal tone, and responsible messaging are key.

Week 2
Lecturer Feedback
Keep the caption concise and fun without excessive explanations if the content is already present in the post. Simplify the message to capture attention and maintain alignment with the brand's tone and style. By crafting a straightforward and exciting caption, it will generate interest and engage the audience.

Client Feedback
Based on the specific feedback provided, make the following adjustments: match the social media border colour to the current theme, increase the font size of the middle copy to "ACNE?!" for better readability, replace the skin tick with a bacteria image, start the video from 0:04 for a faster pace, use a voiceover in a Malaysian and humorous style, and avoid using the word "flawless." These changes will enhance the visual appeal and engagement of the content.

Week 3
Lecturer Feedback
Good Progression, Keep Going

Client Feedback Considering the shorter attention span of TikTok users, it is crucial to make the content more fast-paced and engaging. Ensure that each scene is designed to entertain and captivate viewers, ultimately improving video retention. If the visual copy is lengthy, allow enough time for viewers to finish reading before it disappears. Consider incorporating a visual copy or a voiceover to provide additional context and explain the unfolding events, giving viewers a better understanding of what is happening in the video. These strategies will enhance the overall TikTok experience and maximize viewer engagement.

Week 4
Client Feedback
The client provided valuable feedback on multiple posts, focusing on enhancing the content's effectiveness and appeal. In summary, the client suggested showcasing before and after pictures instead of the original concept for the post scheduled on 15th June. They also recommended making minor tweaks to the caption and adjusting the position of the visual copy.

For the post set for 6th June, the client expressed enthusiasm and gave their full approval, while suggesting incorporating more dramatic or comedic reactions into the video.

In regard to the post scheduled on 20th June, the client proposed edits to highlight the main points, such as featuring scenes of spitting water or zooming in on the filter to clearly depict the patches on the face. They also desired a more fast-paced and concise video, suggesting an extended final scene and a change in music to a lighthearted and cute tone.

Additionally, the client requested the inclusion of a visual copy for the V2 version of a post to enhance its impact.

In conclusion, the client's feedback reflects their commitment to improving the content and achieving the desired objectives. Their suggestions aim to create engaging and impactful posts that resonate with the target audience.

Week 4
Client Feedback
Very good, well done!!

Reflection

Experience
During this semester, I took on the role of a group leader, which proved to be quite challenging. I found myself juggling multiple responsibilities and tasks, making it a demanding experience. It was particularly difficult to ensure that all group members were fulfilling their assigned duties. I often had to remind them to stay on track, as the work would start to lag behind if I didn't provide constant reminders. This aspect of the role was quite exhausting and took a toll on me.

One aspect that added to the challenges was the group assignment distribution. It didn't align with my personal time management strategies, especially when it came to design and filming. There were instances where we had planned specific times for filming, only to find out last-minute that someone couldn't attend, and their reasons were not always acceptable. This made the process frustrating and disrupted our workflow. Despite these difficulties, I'm grateful for the team members who consistently supported me and diligently completed their tasks on time.

Observation
During the course of this project, I had the opportunity to observe and learn from the practices of other groups, and it was truly inspiring to witness their high level of discipline and work ethic. These groups demonstrated a remarkable ability to consistently complete their tasks within the designated time frames. Their commitment to excellence and their organizational skills were evident in the impressive structure and clarity of their Google Sheets scheduling.

In particular, the advice given by our lecturer, Mr Asrizal, proved to be invaluable. He encouraged us to study and reference the scheduling methods employed by these successful groups. By doing so, we were able to gain insights into their effective planning strategies, which undoubtedly played a significant role in their achievements. It became clear that by adopting and adapting these best practices, we could enhance our own team's productivity and overall project outcomes.

Seeing the disciplined approach and meticulous attention to detail displayed by these groups reinforced the importance of efficient time management and proper organization. It emphasized the need to prioritize tasks, set realistic deadlines, and allocate resources effectively. Witnessing the positive results achieved by these groups served as a motivation for our team to strive for greater efficiency and productivity.

Furthermore, the ability to learn from others' experiences and draw inspiration from their success stories is a powerful asset in any collaborative endeavour. It opens doors to new perspectives and innovative ideas, enabling us to continually improve and refine our own working methods.

In conclusion, the observation of other groups' impressive discipline and work ethic, coupled with the advice from our lecturer, has highlighted the importance of effective planning, organization, and time management. By embracing these principles and learning from the successes of others, we can elevate our own performance and achieve greater outcomes in future projects.

Finding
This semester as a group leader was truly enlightening and transformative. It allowed me to gain invaluable insights into the importance of effective communication and efficient time management in effectively managing a team. Throughout the project, I realized the value of learning from and referencing other groups' practices, as it provided valuable guidance and inspiration.

One of the significant lessons I learned was the importance of striking the right balance between assertiveness and understanding when dealing with client expectations. It became evident that being tactful and considerate in our communication with the client was crucial to maintaining a positive and productive working relationship.

Despite the challenges and demanding nature of the role, this experience has been instrumental in my personal growth and the development of my leadership skills. It has allowed me to become more adaptable, resilient, and better equipped to navigate complex team dynamics. Moving forward, I am confident that the lessons learned and experiences gained during this semester will continue to shape and enhance my future endeavours.
