Visual Design Publication

Week 7

Mrs Jin Chi start to brief us on the next assignment which is Visual Design Publication after Mrs Jin Chi briefed the assignment, I start to find my mood board. My Topic is Paper-Cut Culture on Modern Packaging Design, so my Visual Design will be in Chinese Culture. I found two types of Visual Reference, the first is layering with a paper-cut effect and the second is Minimalist.

Below is my mood board:

The final choice I will pick is The Layering style, after I have done the research I start to design my Layering Design.

I have done my cover page and below is the brush to apply to my cover.

When I show Mrs Jin Chi to have feedback, Mrs Jin Chi said the brush look like a watercolour brush, and she tell me to change it to a Chinese Brush.

TURNITIN Submission Result

Below is my Turnitin result:

When I get the Turnitin result, I felt so happy because I get 7% less than 15% but I also felt weird because my cover page is a lot of paraphrasing.

Feedback

Week 9

  • My colour scheme looks a bit rich as in like not sure if there are too many colours, although I know maybe if I even consider taking them out I know. Mrs Jin Chi says don't know whether it's five of them will be too much.
  • The first concept is good for designing my cover page and entire page and the second concept is more towards general Chinese art or Chinese painting with a lot of empty space at the site right. Mrs Jin Chi thinks I can have both aspects in my work which is I can still maintain the paper-cut effect but Mrs Jin Chi thinks space would be important for my book. Mrs JIn Chi says I know at the end of the day I am talking about designing a dissertation, not a creative-only kind of book so Mrs JIn Chi agrees that the paper-cut idea is more straightforward. Maybe I also got to consider not drowning my book with too much of it so maybe What I can do is think about perhaps creating or maybe I have identified a paper cut design that I can maybe keep using throughout the book, but in different ways, zoom outcropped or zoom in repeated. It's the same design so I keep consistency so I don't have too many different kinds of design in my book.
  • For the design layout concept, I can go with the second idea. Mrs JIn Chi thinks that is closer to my expression of the topic.
  • For the typeface, Mrs Jin Chi thinks the primary typeface will be put for the first plane and she thinks it's better that I also consider a typeface that is san serif or bamboo.

Week 10
  • No need to put ISBN number because the ISBN number is a registered book, and don't put that first published in Kuala Lumpur by Tylor's Press because this book is not published.
  • Don't forget to put the page number
  • The cover page brush looks like water colour brush, try to change it to the Chinese brush.
  • The title is not paper-cut culture on Modern Design, I need to double change again for my title.
  • For the requirements that I need to include, follow the requirements that MIB provided.

Week 11
  • The book design overall look good but I need to take off some pages number for the title page so it can look nice.
