Task 3(A)- Book Design

Formatting (PDF)

During week 5, I focused on finding layout references that I might use for the design of the layout of my book.

The following is a list of references that I found:

Layout Reference

The selection of our grid system, sample type, and layouts must come first before we can go on to designing the layouts for Chapter 1 of the book we are studying this week.

My goal is to design three distinct grid systems, which are as follows:

Options for grids

Last but not least, I settled on the following:

Next, in order to assist me in selecting the best typeface for my book, I set about producing a type specimen sheet. The following are the options that I was thinking about:

Headline: Futura Std, 18pt
Body Text: Berlin Sans FB, 9pt
Subtext: Berlin Sans FB, 8pt
Pull Quote: Berlin Sans FB, 27pt

I have included below my thumbnail layout of the book's layout:

Continuing with the layout design, I worked on the text first, followed by the photos.

Next, I added visual effects to the text.
After I was done adding, I sent it to printing.

Before I go to print it out, I was going to print it out in B&W spread.

After finishing the design, I went on to print the book. I contacted a store called ArchPrint and asked them to recommend something I could print the design on. Finally, we chose Card Paper material. I chose the stapler, and then I asked to print it on Saturday, but I was informed that day that I could go to get it, and the process was a bit unsatisfactory because when he cut the white edge for me, it was not perfect. But, Everything looks fine and the printing is well done. I really like the texture of this paper.

Feedback

Week 6
If it is longer than 32 pages, we will need to add four additional pages to the total because of the way the signature is created. On the inside of the front cover, there will be a total of four pages included (front and back). Before we finish the book the following week, it is essential that we first print a test copy in black and white for evaluation purposes. It is anticipated that the design of the book cover will be finished by the start of the next week.

Week 7
Every export has to be completed at a resolution of 300 dots per inch, an additional colour thumbnail has to be printed before the main document is, and the barcode has to be checked against a reference book. After you have finished the confirmation, you should print the cover. If printing the thumbnail directly is something you want to do, you should use A3 paper rather than A4 paper if A4 paper is too small.

Week 8
Independent Learning Week

Week 9
Make sure that all of the typefaces are consistent with one another, and check that the formatting of the body text is on the same line while still being graduated. Also, make sure that all of the typefaces are unified. In addition, you must remember to include the complete page count in your response.

Reflection

The way I've been managing my time and the amount of work I've taken on this semester have combined to make this assignment quite challenging for me. I was likewise really upset with how my book turned out in the end since I believed it had the potential to be done effectively and became more and more unhappy as it progressed. Because the faults I made were on such a fundamental level, I really wish I could devote more time to this project, but the reality is that I can't.

It's difficult to locate references on each webpage, thus I'm having a hard time; tell me if I'm doing this correctly. I also saw that the importance of practising the form as well as movement practice in this assignment is really high.

We have to provide the comment that Mr Vinod provides a significant amount of consideration. I won't tell you a fib when I say that feedback is really helpful to folks who are suffering. When I tweak a component, but it has too much of an effect, then when I change the design again, it seems like it has too little of an effect visually. This is a mistake that I do sometimes. Since I am unable to completely implement what Mr Vinod has taught me in my assignments, I would want to begin by apologising to him.
