Week 2

Don't get the information from Wikipedia because the information is too wide, better get the information at the Wikipedia reference

Explain why I get this topic and the problem

Week 3

Since Traditional paper cut is given as an example, modern paper cut also needs given example

The rationale and Problem statement need to show the source of research where from (citation)

For the problem statement when explain the about the design don't suddenly conclude, at the next paragraph can say about the modern contemporary world 

Week 5

For the citation, the names are not reversed, surname comes first except for Malay names and Indian names as they are. In Chinese and Western names the surname is at the front. 

In initials like for example Chin, ZX.

Miss say this exercise when I am critiquing about the method, critiquing about the contents or the structure of the paper, if I only refer to 1 very niche topic of paper cutting, I may not find the Methodology helping me.

Week 7

The Introduction, I need to end the introduction by saying that the following is a critical review of the five research Articles conducted for this present for the present study

For the critical review, for the citation Yang XuLan (2019) change to Yang (2019), shortcut it, that mean is given names

Week 9

This week have completed yet the work so can't show the work to Miss JinChi

Week 10

The same problem, I didn't change the word once, example Paper Cutting - Paper Cut

For the survey question, I need to write a clear question to let the participant know about  my question

When I ask the participant about a research question, I need to create a reasonable question to let them write that can help my research

Week 12

For the primary data, Miss say I need to write it more clear for the analysis 

The same problem again, the word needs to change to once don't different.

I need to find more people for doing my survey because my participant is too so need to send it again

Week 13

My presentation slide so far look good but the background design needs to redesign again, Dr JinChi says my design needs to same as my topic. My topic says about folk art paper cut and traditional art, so I need to design a red and white Chinese traditional art.

Week 14

Dr JinChi say my presentation slide design is better than the last time I design it, everything is good but need to delete some slide, my critical review slide need to delete make sure my slide is less than 23 slide, and than Dr JinChi say that I need to combine the slide together.

Reflection

To be honest, at the beginning of the semester, I was very struggling and confused. For me, the hardest part of the first task was finding a topic that was right for me and that I was really interested in. I was completely lost in the first assignment, the things I liked were too broad and I didn't know much about the things I liked. The struggling point when I look back because I keep changing my topic and not doing actual research because I've been doing things at the last minute. The reason why I chose the influence of Chinese paper-cut culture on modern packaging design is that when I looked at many designs, I found that paper-cut culture seems to be less and less, so I finally decided to choose this as my theme. After I identified my topic, the hard part was reading and writing research questions. I had no idea what a research question would look like at first, but luckily Dr Jin Chi guided me a lot on my first assignment.

The second assignment was also a difficult one for me, I realized that I read the literature even when the topic was fixed, and it took me a long time to summarize all the critical comments in my second assignment. Another big problem with my second assignment is that I have been looking for some topics related to traditional art and packaging design, not the influence of Chinese paper-cut culture on modern packaging design. By the way, the example of critical comments that Dr Jin Chi gave really helped me a lot when I lost, as usual, I really learned a lot from all these articles about how they actually work.

The third task is also the last task we need to do. Compared to Assignment 1 and Assignment 2, this Assignment is easier for me to do. I chose the google survey form and then wrote a lot of questions and put them on my Instagram and WhatsApp for our friends and family to fill in. The first time my response was only 50+, I felt a little pressure because I haven't To meet my requirements, Dr Jin Chi told me not to close the google form first, and then continue to send it to my friends and family. When Dr Jin Chi was talking, I sent it to my friends to ask their friends to fill in. As predicted, my number began to slowly rise. Finally, my responses reach 128. Another point is that I didn't disappoint Dr Jin Chi this time because I didn't get feedback on the previous task because I haven't started writing, so I can hear that Dr Jin Chi is a little disappointed, but this time Dr Jin Chi said that she did not disappoint because I had completed my task early, this is something to be proud of.

Overall, through my entire journey with Design Research Methodology, I really learned a lot of research skills that will be very useful to me in the future. I am also very grateful to Dr Jin Chi for her guidance, when I was actually doing my homework, Dr Jin Chi even took the time to help me and taught me a lot of terminologies. I hope to use this useful skill in the future.
